A document that certifies citizenship of the Russian Federation is a passport of the citizen of the Russian Federation or any other main document, which contains reference of the holder to the citizenship of the Russian Federation. All types of documents which certify and identify personality of the citizen of the Russian Federation are listed in the applicable federal law.
Citizenship of the Russian Federation is acquired and terminated in accordance with the Federal Law. It is single and equal without regard of the grounds for its acquisition. Official documents executed in foreign countries, copies of which are required for issue of permit must be legalized in an established order. The documents that are drawn-up and executed in a foreign language are subject to translation into Russian. Correctness of translation and authenticity of the translator’s signature must be certified by Notary.
Execution and issue of documents – permit for temporarily residence, registration certificate, passport of citizen of the Russian Federation – is carried out in accordance with order established by the applicable law by bodies of internal affairs of the Russian Federation. Foreign citizen who acquired a permit for temporary residence in the Russian Federation has the right to employment without the employment permit.

Committee For Citizenship Under President Of The Russian Federation
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin approved The Provisions for Committee for Citizenship under President of the Russian Federation by his Decree dated November 14, 2005.
The Committee is an advisory and consultative body under President and its goal is to ensure realization of the constitutional authority of the head of the state in the issues of citizenship of the Russian Federation and granting of political asylum.
The main task of the Committee is informational and analytical support of the President’s actions aimed at implementation of the constitutional authority in relation to the issues of citizenship of the Russian Federation and granting political asylum.
The Committee’s function includes preliminary consideration of applications for citizenship as well as other issues related to the procedure.
The Committee has the right to make inquiries and, in an established manner, to obtain necessary materials from the bodies of power, institutions and officials. In addition, it can use the database of the President of the Russian Federation and the federal bodies of the executive power.
The Chairman of the Committee and its members are approved by the President and participate in its work on a pro bono publico basis.
