Registration certificate (Green Card)
is a document that is issued to a foreign citizen or a person without nationality in support of his/her right to permanent residence in the Russian Federation, as well as the right to free exit from and entrance into the Russian Federation. Registration certificate, which is issued to a person without nationality is at the same time a document, which certifies his/her identity.

In the course of validity of the permit for temporary residence and given legal basis, a foreign citizen has the right to have registration certificate issued based on his/her application.

Prior to the registration certificate a foreign citizen must live in the Russian Federation for at least one year based on permit for temporary residence.

The registration certificate is issued to a foreign citizen for a period of five years. On expiration of the period the registration certificate can be prolonged based on his/her application for a five-year period. The number of such prolongations of registration certificate is not limited.

The order of issuing of registration certificate and list of documents submitted together with an application for registration certificate as well as the order of re-registration of the certificate is approved by the Government of  the Russian Federation.

A foreign citizen (a person without nationality) who is older that 18 years old and who has been living on the territory of the Russian Federation for at least one year due to permit for temporary residence, can obtain registration certificate.

The order of issuing of registration certificate and list of documents to be submitted together with application for registration certificate as well as the order of re-registration of the certificate is approved by the Resolution #794 of the Government of the Russian Federation dated November 1, 2002.

If as of the date of application the identity document of the foreign citizen and nationality and/or a permit for temporary residence is valid for less than 6 months, then the application for registration certificate is not accepted.

When issuing registration certificate, the identity document of the foreign citizen is stamped about issue of registration certificate which is certified with signature of the competent officer and sealed with special seal “For Foreign Documents. Permit for temporary residence executed in the form of document that certifies identity of a person without nationality is withdrawn and kept with registration file

Residence Permit
Contains the following information: surname, name (written in Cyrillic and Latin), date and place of birth, sex, nationality of the foreign citizen, number and date of decision on issue of registration certificate, name of the body of executive power, which issued the registration certificate. The registration certificate is executed in established document format.
